Atriplex hortensis L.
Tender, large-leaved, green orache with slightly wavy, fleshy leaves.
Dark green-leaved, traditional variety from the Black Forest with numerous, large leaves that are used as leafy vegetables. The plants grow quickly (up to 2 m high) and are quickly ready for harvest. Melds were very common as leafy vegetables in Europe before they were replaced by spinach.
